Howard McGuire, Paul’s Dad, started the portable building business in 1969 on Howard’s father’s farm in Troup County, Ga. Howard brought the business to Columbus, Ga. In December of 1974.

Paul started working in the family business in 1979 as a full time job while still in High School. Paul has been in the business ever since.

In March of 1985 Howard sold the business to Thrifty Portable Buildings of Montgomery, Al. Paul stayed on with Thrifty and ran the business as manager for another 20 years.

In May of 2005 Paul purchased one of the locations back from Thrifty and changed the name to McGuire’s Buildings. Paul is totally dedicated to saving his customers money on all the products he offers.

In September of 2007 after retailing buildings for 38 years, Paul partnered with long time friend Bruce Lisle and Bruce's son Nick. They formed a company named Sturdi Buildings, inc. Paul and his Dad had always wanted to build their own line of portable buildings. After many years of suppliers dropping one option after the other and cutting corners to "mass produce" buildings, Paul knew it was time.
